"A family located in the northern part of London seeks an remarkable and qualified tutor to guide their most junior child on his early path to turning into an English gentleman."
Upon seeing this post, you might readily miss the term "initial stages" as mere a turn of phrase.
Yet, it may be the most significant element of this unique job advert, as it seeks to find a tutor for a 12-month-old.
Numerous of submissions have since been sent in since the unidentified family published their request for the £180,000 per year tutor, who has to be "an exceptional individual".
Over the last few weeks, the post has gained interest across the news, with many questioning why?
Forward-Thinking Method
The CEO, head and founder of Tutors International, which is helping the family in their quest, said that notwithstanding first doubt, he found the concept "far sighted", and "innovative".
When he met the family, he noted they appreciated the unconventional nature of their demand, and how early in age their son is.
But, they stated that they "were unwilling to delay any longer" to get a tutor, as they had waited until their elder sibling was five, and by that point "cultural influence had already become established".
What exactly does the family refer to by "cultural leaning"?
It's "everything", the expert responded. "The manner you eat, the way you speak".
He stated the elder child had adopted "extremely delicate, non-verbal cues" from the family, and had taken on their cultural ways. The family informed Adam they wished to avoid this pattern to repeat itself with their infant.
The strategy: To hire a UK tutor, who should speak with standard English accent, to guide the baby from the very start.
Natural Absorption
"A lot of the education at the start here is kind of acquired indirectly," said the expert.
It's through this osmosis that the family are hoping the child will acquire the British traits they wish to impart.
The consultant noted the tutor had to be someone who studied at "the appropriate educational institutions – the same kinds of schools as the family plan to send their son to".
"The educator just has to be the suitable individual, they'll be doing things they don't even know they're doing, effortlessly," he commented.
Money No Object
The family told Adam the chosen tutor should ideally also have understanding of or interest in equestrian activities, skiing, creative fields and instrumental training so as to shape the child in a diverse set of passions.
Additionally though, he said the family hoped the tutor to register the child on a range of courses so the child would be "horseback riding and picking up an instrument by the time they are approximately three years old".
In the family's minds, assisting their son become a "UK sophisticate" will bring about achievement and open doors.
"Taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of that, because it's definitely a social class indicator," he adds.
But, notwithstanding all this tutelage in "Britishness", could the child absorb so-called cultural leaning from the globally influenced family he resides with in any case?
"Certainly", replied he. "They realize this may not work, but they've simply adopted the view of, 'let's give it a go and we'll proceed as soon as we can', because the expense of it is not a concern," he said.
Overly Optimistic
A number of in the private teaching field who share these doubts.
Peter Cui, head and founder of an educational organization, who provides personal educators, commented that "the process of becoming bicultural, or in fact, forming one's identity, is something that must be grown into, not engineered."
Peter explained that he had emigrated from China to the UK at the age of childhood, and had been brought up knowing and living both cultures. He progressed to study at Cambridge University.
"The notion that an individual can act as a embodiment of Britishness, an individual who can in some way impart the qualities of a English gentleman to a infant child, seems to me naive and unfeasible," he stated.
"In my experience, having a typically English tutor from early childhood will will not necessarily create the outcome they want.
"I wasn't provided with that kind of mentor, and yet I have been lucky enough to live several of the experiences they aspire for their son."
He stated: "The truth is, personal identity can not be dictated from the outside influences; it must be selected, and it must originate internally."
Acquiring Englishness
Naturally, English culture is something Adam thinks can be instructed – and marketed.
"I think the reality that the international society holds us in this regard is something that we should be cherishing|valuing|appreciating
