19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been won on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - led to him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with long-time mentor Gilles Cervara.
Presently working with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually improved in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's maiden title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 different events.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.
"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child my daughter was born was for her."
The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his previous six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.
His defensive strategy and frequent reactions on court had led some to question if his ability to perform at the top level was over.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.
Both players swapped breaks in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional victory, gained dominance to create a final set.
Moutet rescued 4 initial break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.
Fittingly, he clinched victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
